The highest Montenegrin mountain range, Durmitor, offers, in addition to the highest peak, Bobotov Kuk (2523 m), a number of other beautiful destinations for alpine skiing or splitboarding trips. The seventh highest peak of Durmitor - Bandijerna at 2409 meters high - is a perfect viewpoint. This peak can be reached from the local center of Žabljak, or from Crno Jezero.

Through the Lokvice valley

The tour starts at parking place near Crno jezero that is bypassed along the northern edge with a connection to the tourist sign leading to the Lokvice Valley. In good weather, the climb to the Lokvice Valley is a beautiful scenic hike with hilly surroundings. If visibility is poor, it may happen that you have to go up and down over individual terrain irregularities. Above the Lokvice terrain notch with a lake (in summer) at an altitude of 1800 meters, you need to decide whether to traverse Čvorov bogaz (2152 m) under the saddle or descend over a hundred meters to the frozen and snowy lake. It is better to descend without skins to the lake, put on skins again and cross it in a southerly direction.

To the Trojni prevoj pass and the summit

In the approximately north-south axis of the valley, we continue to climb against the sun over individual unevennesses on slopes of varying steepness, first to Zelená lokva (2000 m) and from there to the Trojni prevoj saddle (2245 m).

From the saddle, the ascent route turns east. Depending on the current snow conditions and avalanche danger, it is possible to climb further to the summit on skins. A safer and, in the case of unsuitable snow conditions, more comfortable is the ascent on boots with skis attached to a backpack. It is sometimes necessary to use crampons and an ice axe. A little below the summit, the slope angle decreases, so the last tens of meters are comfortable even on skis.

Descent

The descent from the top partly follows the ascent route and we choose places with the best snow conditions.

Below, we don't have to go down to the Trojni prevoj saddle, but a little above it, we turn directly north and continue the wonderful descent to Lokvice Lake through the undulating terrain. From the lake, we have to climb to the edge of the valley, which we can do on foot on hard ground, but in deep snow we have to put on skins. From the edge of the valley, we continue the descent between snow and stone bumps to Crno Jezero.
